St Margaret Mary’s Catholic Primary School, Randwick North is celebrating its 2025 NAPLAN results, with strong achievements across multiple learning areas and encouraging signs of growth in key domains.

“We are incredibly proud of our students and staff,” said Principal Kylie O’Donnell. “These results reflect the hard work happening in every classroom – careful planning, consistent teaching practice, and a deep commitment to knowing each learner.”

In the 2025 assessments, St Margaret Mary’s performed above the Sydney Catholic Schools average in several areas, including:

  • Year 3: Writing, Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation
  • Year 5: Numeracy, Reading, Grammar and Punctuation
  • Year 3: Reading sat significantly above the STATE average with 45% of students classified as ‘exceeding’, demonstrating strong capability and potential in early literacy.

Growth data also highlighted significant strengths. Year 5 Reading and Numeracy both recorded a higher percentage of students achieving above typical growth than the SCS average, reflecting the impact of targeted teaching and sustained support across the junior primary years.

“Our teachers use explicit instruction, ongoing assessment, and collaborative planning to ensure every child is progressing,” Ms O’Donnell said. “We are a small school, and that is one of our greatest strengths – every child is known, and every child’s learning matters.”

She also acknowledged the collective effort behind the results.

“These achievements come from a team approach – teachers, support staff, families, and students working together. We are proud of the culture of high expectations and CARE that defines St Margaret Mary’s.”

The school continues to focus on strong literacy and numeracy foundations, evidence‑based practice, and a nurturing environment where children feel confident to grow and succeed.
